We are excited to announce that the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Capital Breast Care Center have joined a team to participate in the 2011 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington, DC.
We raised over $45,000 as a team last year and our goal this year is $100,000. We want to make sure that Lombardi’s voice in the fight against breast cancer is heard.
And we need you!
The Walk is a two day event on April 30th & May 1st bringing together women and men from all walks of life to raise awareness and funds to combat breast cancer. And this year we want to make sure that Lombardi’s voice in the fight against breast cancer is heard.
As you know, Lombardi has been the recipient of many Avon Foundation grants. Since 2003, Avon has given $4 million to the cancer center. Additionally, the Foundation has provided vital funding for the Capital Breast Care Center since its doors opened in 2004.
So join our team, and add your voice! All members of the Georgetown – and Washington – community are invited.
We all know that there’s strength in numbers, so it’s with great strength that we’ll work and walk toward putting an end to the suffering caused by breast cancer. We each have our reasons for participating – - whether it’s a personal fight with breast cancer, the struggle or loss of a loved one, or a deep commitment to the cause.
We’ve each made a big commitment. We’ll spend the next few months training to prepare for a walk of up to a marathon and a half. Each team member is required to raise at least $1,800 in donations. But because we’re in this together, we know that, with your help, we can do it.

The team has raised just short of $4000 so far, and we haven’t even really started fund raising yet!!!! We are well on our way towards our goal.
Keep on truckin’ team!
